Dulwich students crowned ‘Battle of the Books’ victors!

On Friday 1st December, a group of Year 5, 6 and 7 students from our Pun Hlaing campus took part in the first Yangon ‘Battle of the Books’ competition, hosted at International School of Yangon (ISY).

This was the culmination of almost 3 months of work during which the students read 11 different books by a wide variety of authors including Michael Morpurgo, Cornelia Funke and Michelle Paver. The competition involved answering questions on all 11 books; no easy task at all!

We entered 2 teams against a further 5 teams from different international schools in Yangon. The Dulwich students performed superbly, with our two teams taking first and second place.

We were incredibly proud of the outstanding performances from all students on the day. Although the real achievement must be how much reading they did in preparation for the competition. On average, the students were reading a book a week for 3 months straight; an astonishing achievement for students at this level that would make any English teacher proud.
